Keep a list of people outside of the school system who know you, your skills and talents, and would be willing to be listed as a reference on applications. Ask their permission before naming them on any applications. Inform them about the nature of the scholarship for which you are applying and they will be better prepared to answer any questions they might receive from the scholarship committee.
