If your family legends contain unfamiliar names or words, search for the term in reference to a geographic area. For instance, since "chinook" is common in northern Montana, itīs possible that the
Chinook Indians are an offshoot of one of the Montana tribes. A search of those tribesī records might lead to valuable information.
