Taping a lecture is a great idea for just about anyone. Some of us don´t write as fast as the lecturer speaks. Others have to "understand" before writing. Some professors start one idea and finish up with another. Ask your professor´s permission first and record lectures, unless your college has video-recording. Listening (or watching, if you´re lucky enough) to the lecture later, after hearing it in class, is helpful for general understanding of ideas, as well as in writing your notes.
