Since most classrooms donīt come equipped with a phone, if you have a cell phone, put it to work in your classroom. Obtain a list of all of your studentsī phone numbers (Home and parentīs work) from the front office. When little Johnny misbehaves in class, donīt write him up, donīt give him detention. Call his parents right there in front of the class and explain to mom or dad what Johnny is doing. Make Johnny get on the phone in front of the class. I have done this. It is well worth the cost of the calls. It works when nothing else seems to!
